Chris Landry
Chris Landry is one of the most respected scouts in the NFL and a veteran of
over 15 drafts. Having served with the Cleveland Browns, Houston Oilers and
Tennessee Titans, he has helped build rosters of Super Bowl participants and
winners. His lists of players scouted and signed have littered the rosters of
several Pro Bowls and Super Bowls.
When with the Oilers and
later Titans he was involved in drafting such players as Steve McNair, Eddie
George, Jevon Kearse, Derrick Mason, Samari Rolle, Blaine Bishop, Brad Hopkins,
Jon Runyan. His last first round pick for the Titans was Keith Bulluck, their
team leader and best defender for several years.
Prior to joining the Houston
Oilers to coordinate their scouting department, Landry was the coordinator of
the NFL Scouting Combine held annually in February. Here he was able to help
implement a number of the drills and medical tests given to players at this
event. Recognized as being ahead of the curve on many football related matters,
Landry has served on several committees involving NFL and College Football
matters. Landry learned a great deal of football from former LSU coach Bill
Arnsparger as a student assistant coach starting in 1984. He went on to work
his way onto the staff full time at LSU upon his graduation, and working on Mike
Archer’s staff, focused mainly on recruiting high school players for the
football program. At LSU, he was involved in signing several players who later
earned All-American honors and won or shared in three Southeastern Conference
championships. Also while involved in LSU’s recruiting, all of his classes were
ranked top 5 nationally.
In 1992, he accepted an opportunity to join Bill Belichick’s staff with the Cleveland Browns. Again working for one of the
greatest minds in modern day football, Landry was one of many future successes
in the league. Also on the coaching staff were Nick Saban, Al Groh, Jim Bates
and Scott O’Brien. Among the future front office stars on the staff were Dom
Anile, who helped build the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts, Scott Pioli
of the Patriots and George Kokinis of the Baltimore Ravens.
Today, Landry operates his
own Scouting and Coaching Consulting business where he serves as a consultant to
a number of NFL teams and Major College programs. His major focus is the
evaluation of current NFL players as well as prospects in the College game. He
has also been consulted on a number of coaching searches as has recommended such
future coaching stars as Nick Saban, Kirk Ferentz, Pete Carroll, Ralph Freidgen,
Jeff Tedford, Urban Meyer, Jim Grobe, Jim Tressel, Bob Stoops, Andy Reid, Lovie
Smith, John Fox, Brian Billick and Sean Payton. You can hear Landry nationally
on FOX Sports Radio as their NFL and College Football Analyst. He co-hosts their
college football and NFL recap shows late Saturday and Sunday evenings during
the college football season. He also works round the clock on the networks NFL
draft coverage every April. Landry also appears throughout Canada on SportsNet
Canada serving as their NFL analyst. His TV work can also be accessed via the
SportsNet Canada website where he also writes an NFL column. In his association
with LandryFootballAcademy.com, he will serve as your personal advisor for your
football career, helping those interested in learning more about the game and
furthering their careers to the college and NFL game. If you have the ability,
he will help guide you through the process. For those interested in working in
the football business, coaching, scouting and administrative programs are being
developed as part of Landry’s Football Learning Academy.
